Through CIBER, Fisher College has built numerous fruitful global exchange programs with business schools around the globe. There are over 30 partner schools that have prestigious course offerings in which our students participate.

Many of our exchange partners offer tuition reciprocity, making it convenient and affordable for our students to study abroad.  Exchange ONLY relates to the tuition reciprocity.  There are no programs that require a housing or family exchange.  Exchanges are available in the following countries: Africa, Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Scotland, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan and Thailand.

The exchange program is governed on a person-to-person exchange and maintaining an accurate balance is paramount in regards to space available. Therefore, some exchanges may not be available every year.

  2. MBA students may participate in exchange during their 2nd year in the program. No exceptions.
  3. You must have and maintain a 3.0 grade point average to be selected and remain in the program.
  4. Commitment to five 2-3 hour orientation sessions held on Saturdays from January to June.

When you apply, you will need to upload the following documents:

  • Your Resume
  • A Letter of Intent (there is no limit or minimum to this document, please use this to explain how this experience factors into your educational and career goals)
  • An ELECTRONIC Letter of Recommendation from a Faculty Member (Fisher, Ohio State or other faculty should write a brief letter in support of your academic potential to succeed and represent the Fisher College of Business on International Student Exchange.)

Once you have applied, you will make a payment of $150, using a credit or debit card. This application fee is non-refundable. Your application will not be considered complete until ALL of the documents have been submitted.

Finally, you must send an e-mail to Melanie Caugherty-Diaz at caugherty-diaz.1@osu.edu to confirm receipt of your application and to schedule an interview.  Interviews will be held starting November 1st, Monday through Friday.  All interviews must be completed by January 5th.

A Differentiated Degree

Participating in an exchange program can enhance an educational experience, offer personal fulfillment, and increase career prospects. Studying at SDA Bocconi in Italy, which was rated 42nd in the 2007 Financial Times Global MBA Rankings, gives students an opportunity to interact with and take classes from world-renowned professors.

Taking classes at Manchester Business School (rated 22nd in the same Financial Times rankings), which is triple-accredited by AACSB International, AMBA, and EQUIS, offers a truly global academic experience.  Crossing the border to study at the University of British Columbia provides lessons on sustainable business development, corporate social responsibility, and the business of wine (complete with wine tasting).

While students are abroad, they often take the time to dive into the rich culture and heritage surrounding them. Students sample from local breweries at Oktoberfest in Germany, explore volcanoes in Chile, or feed kangaroos in Australia. They also make lasting memories and friendships during their exchanges, and often remember them as a highlight of their Fisher experience.

Besides the educational and personal fulfillment students find in an exchange, studying abroad shows future employers that students are willing to take risks, that they can get along with diverse groups of people, and that they are quick learners. An exchange semester can truly differentiate one job candidate from another, and many of our alumni remember their exchange as one of the most valuable components of their degree.

Learning From Others

In addition to the opportunity to travel and study abroad, students find that Fisher’s exchange program brings top-notch students from our partner schools to Fisher’s classroom environment. These exchange students bring with them valuable perspectives to share in class as well as fascinating cultural elements.  Fisher students open their horizons by getting to know our exchange students, learning about how business works in their countries, and sharing in their countries’ traditions.

The Institute for International Education found that HR personnel see study abroad experiences as producing valuable interpersonal skills, which are ranked as the most important ability in job candidates.  Employers agree that candidates with international study experience are likely to possess leadership, innovation and presentation skills.
