International Programs with Fisher

Fisher’s CIBER office offers many programs intended for varying audiences. Below are some of the major programs offered:

Field Study Abroad
In cooperation with Fisher faculty, the International Programs Office offers current students unique opportunities to learn about international business through hands-on field studies. Our popular Emerging Markets Field Study course prepares both graduate and undergraduate students for a spring break trip to a developing country by studying that country’s culture, history, and business background during the preceding winter quarter, and visiting leading businesses upon arrival. The field study courses provide a global perspective and an opportunity to gain hands-on international experience with multi-national and international companies. Previous years courses have taken students to countries such as India, Argentina, Brazil, China, Vietnam, Ethiopia etc. For 2009-2010 academic year, we will offer EMFS Brazil, Ethiopia and Vietnam.

Our new Elective Treks offer students a focused experience in specific areas of interest such as finance, sourcing, or micro-credit. Created in 2007, these treks are designed to allow students and faculty to apply their business knowledge in an international setting. The upcoming elective treks are HK (09/11-09/19) focused on finance and Germany (12/11- 12/19) focused on logistics. Elective Trek Germany is open for enrollment! Deadline 10/10/2009.

Distinguished International Speakers Series
The popular Distinguished International Speakers Series (DISS) is series of speaker luncheons offered by Fisher’s CIBER to graduate students and faculty. Past speakers have included international business executives, world-renowned economists and top level politicians responsible for economic policy around the world.

The goals of TARGET are to connect these businesses to companies with significant international business experience and success, and to provide resources to companies that are considering entering the international business sphere. TARGET stands for "To Aim and Realize Global Expansion Together."
