COMPUSTAT PC-PLUS
COMPUSTAT PC Plus for Windows on CD-ROM is
available to all
private and public institutions of higher learning at a substantially
reduced annual fee. In order to qualify, the service must
be used for teaching and noncommercial academic research only.
PC Plus contains the premier COMPUSTAT financial database of over
18,000 companies all on CD-ROM complete with easy-to-use, state-of-the-art
software. It is designed for use on an IBM PC or compatible and
can be installed on a local area network.
PC Plus includes the following:
- Up-to-date CD-ROM delivered each year which presents approximately
18,000 companies
- Financial Information - over 800 items per year adjusted for
accounting differences, on approximately 18,000 companies of which
approximately 10,450 (including 900 Canadians and 15 Canadian
Indexes, 800 banking companies and 470 NYSE/ASE Closed-End Funds)
are currently in business (active) and 7,550 are bankrupt, went
private, no longer report, or were liquidated (inactive)
- History - data history is up to 20 years for all companies
with up to 48 quarters for the active US and Canadian companies.
Up to 7 years is provided for Industry Segment (line of business)
and Geographic data.
- Prices/Dividends/Earnings - 240 months of prices, dividends,
and earnings for the active companies and 177 indexes.
- Officers - up to four (4) officers per company are named with
addresses and phone numbers.
- Industry Aggregates - approximately 310 industry aggregates
(recognized as companies to the software) with up to 18 years
and 48 quarters of history are included. This means that the provided
report formats, or reports you create, can be run for industries
as well as individual companies.
- Downloading/Reporting - over 85 company formatted reports
or use report builders to customize your own which may be printed
or downloaded to ASCII files for use in other software such as
Excel, Lotus, PC SAS, and any software accepting ASCII files.
- Spreadsheets - access PC Plus information directly from within
Excel and Lotus spreadsheets (DDE - dynamic data exchange).
- Searching - predefined screens to quickly search using commonly
requested criteria as well as the ability to screen on any variable
or combination of variables for any time period.
- Proprietary Data - can easily add your own proprietary data,
or alter existing data, for customized analysis. This data then
becomes part of the COMPUSTAT database and can be accessed by
item or through reports.
- Predefined Concepts - software includes approximately 200
annual, 90 quarterly, 15 monthly, and 20 daily calculated items
we call concepts. This capability allows you to create custom
complex equations and save them as concepts for use in custom
reports.
- Business Descriptions - access detailed company business descriptions
with the click of a button.
- Standard & Poor's Industry Surveys Trends and Projections
- by David M. Blitzer, Vice President & Chief Economist, Standard
& Poor's Corporation. Covers all the latest topics on the
economy including consumer spending, trade and budget deficits,
inflation, unemployment and much more. Includes in-depth textual
analysis and charts such as real growth and inflation, employment,
consumer confidence, consumer and producer prices, capital spending,
retail activity, housing market, industrial production index,
capacity utilization, imports and exports, corporate profits,
S&P 500 stock prices, interest rates, and leading indicators.
- Economic Sector and Industry Sector Data - enables you to
use current sectors in stock performance analysis to compare a
company to its peers. Economic Sector codes categorize all companies
into one of nine broad economic groups and the Industry Sector
codes further refine each classification into a more specific
industry group.
- Macroeconomic Data - 20 years of key monthly statistics such
as Treasury Bill Rates, Prime Interest Rates and the Consumer
Price Index, as well as concepts based on these indicators like
the Capital Asset Pricing Model.
- Also included separately is S&P ACE (Analysts' Consensus
Estimates) Estimated Earnings Database - Earnings estimates and
buy/hold/sell recommendations for more than 4,940 companies with
information from over 2,300 contributing analysts from over 200
US international brokerage firms. Over 150 data items per company
are presented.
- On-site installation and training
- Extensive on-line help including data definitions, training
and reference manuals
- Toll-free support lines staffed by well trained experts in
data, hardware, software, and applications
- Subscriber must provide PC and the required CD-ROM readers.
